Do you want the bad news or the good news?
The bad news is that over the course of your career you will work for approximately 100,000 hours.
The good news is that over the course of your career you will work for approximately 100,000 hours.
What’s the difference?
This is bad news if you do a mediocre job in a dead-end role with no meaningful outcomes or benefits to society.
This is good news if you excel in what you do and make a meaningful contribution to the people around you and you can reflect with pride on your work.
This is bad news if you complain, whine, bitch and moan about your situation as a victim of circumstances.
This is good news if you love what you do and do it with passion and enthusiasm.
This is bad news if you sacrifice your family, health and integrity in the search for money or power only to find that your family, health and integrity are far more important.
This is good news if you can balance the important aspects of your life and still earn a decent living.
You will work 100,000 hours over the course of your career.
